NO. 34 San Marino - A Love Story
In 2019, I was in New York visiting a dear friend. It was one of those trips that stays with you – for all the right reasons. A few magical days filled with laughter, life, coffee in paper cups, and long walks through streets where anything seemed possible. And right there, in the middle of all the city buzz, I found… a jumpsuit.
Yes, it may sound dramatic. But if you’ve ever owned a piece of clothing that just felt right – like it was made for you and your energy – then you know exactly what I mean. That jumpsuit wasn’t just fabric. It was a feeling. A spark. A soulmate.
“Clothes should make you glow……..I’ve always dreamed of a wardrobe filled only with those kinds of pieces.”
Chemistry with clothes – is that even a thing?
To me, clothes should feel like relationships. If they’re going to reach your heart, there has to be chemistry. Clothes should make you glow – not for anyone else, but because you feel more yourself when you wear them.
I’ve always dreamed of a wardrobe filled only with those kinds of pieces. Not just things that work, but pieces that feel like dancing with myself. It’s rare that I find that feeling in a store. Most often, I have to create it myself – with scissors, fabric, and my sewing machine. But that day in New York? That was magic. I found it.
The Compliment Darling
Since then, that jumpsuit has followed me everywhere. It’s danced with me at parties, joined me for café dates, and had a permanent spot in my suitcase on every trip. I’ve lost count of how many compliments it has received – always followed by the same questions: “Did you sew it yourself?” or “Is there a pattern?”
Until now, I’ve always had to give a slightly disappointing answer. No – I hadn’t made it, and no – there was no pattern to share.
From Wardrobe Favourite to Pattern Dream
But dreams have a way of sticking around. And this one kept whispering to me. What if I could turn it into a pattern – not a copy, but a creation that captured the same spirit and fit as the New York jumpsuit, shaped with the design language of How to do Fashion?
That was the beginning of No. 34 San Marino.
It’s been a labour of love. I’ve recreated the fit, refined the details, and added all the sewing techniques I enjoy most. And now she’s here. Ready to move into your life and your wardrobe. Ready to make you glow.
Welcome, San Marino
To me, No. 34 San Marino isn’t just a pattern. It’s a personal story sewn into form and function. A tribute to clothing that feels like home. I hope that when you sew and wear this piece, you’ll feel a little bit of what I did that day in New York – that sense of having found something that was waiting just for you.
Welcome to the wardrobe family, San Marino. I can’t wait to see you out in the world.
Love Nanna
