A pencil skirt with waistband, slanted pockets with pocket flaps and darts on front and back. It has a vent and is closed with an invisible zipper.


Fabric choice:

Light to medium weight woven fabric. Cotton, Silk, Wool, Viscose, Cupro, Linen or Polyester. Works well in fabrics with comfort stretch. Not suitable for jersey.

Fitting:

We recommend that you always make a muslin before cutting the fashion fabric to make sure your finished style will fit you perfectly.


Cutting Fabric


On each pattern piece you will find a capital letter. On the cutting layout plan, you will find the same capital letters so that you can easily see which pattern pieces to use for the view you have chosen.

Sewing


NB! The Pattern Has 1 Cm Seam Allowances Included, Unless Otherwise Noted.

1.      Cut all pieces according to the cutting layout plan.

2.      Press interfacing to the waistband (D)

 Sew The Skirt

3.  Sew the back darts. Press them towards centre-back.

4. Fold the darts on the front, right sides together. Sew them accordingly to the marks on the pattern. Press towards CF.

 5. Finish the curved edge of the pocket facing

6. Place the pocket facing on top of the large pocket bag. Sew the two pieces together in the curved edge.

7. Sew the pocket flaps in pairs on 1 x pocket lining and 1 x fabric, right sides together. turn and press nicely.

8. Place the pocket flap on top of the front piece pocket opening. Machine baste the pocket flap to the front piece

9. Place the small pocket bag on top of the pocket flap, with right sides together and Sew together.

10. Press the pocket bag, and seam allowance away from the front piece. Understitch the seam allowance to the pocket bag.

11. Place the large pocket bag on top of the small pocket bag, right sides together, and sew the two pocket bags together.

12. Finish the seam of the pocket bag.

13. Fold the pocket bag onto the wrong side and press the pocket opening nicely.

14. Finish the seam of:

-          All side seams. Remember to get the small piece of the side seam from the pocket bag into the seam

-          CB seam see a guide

-          One of the long sides of the waistband

15. Sew the side seams, right sides together. Press seams open.

16.   Finish the hemline.

17.   Place the waistband at the waist of the skirt, right sides together, and sew it in place. Press the seam allowance into the waistband.

18.   Sew the zipper in place.  The zipper should end at the notch on the waistband. See guide.

19.   Fold the waistband around the zipper, so that the fabric is right sides together and sew the end of the waistband to the zipper. See guide

20.   Turn the waistband to the right side so that the zipper is placed in between the layers of the folded waistband.

21.   Finish the waistband by stitching in the ditch from the right side of the skirt.

22.  Sew the centre-back seam from zipper to vent, and the centre-back vent part. Press the seam allowances open and fold the vent according to the markings.

23.   Hem the skirt. with catch stitch. See guide

24. Sew the went to the back piece with a topstitch.

25.   Sew the hook-and-eye in place above the zipper.
