A long sleeveless dress with a long A-shaped skirt. It has a heart-shaped built-up neck neckline, princesses cut and darts at the waist. In the side seam, there are pockets.


Fabric choice:

Light to medium weight woven fabric. Cotton, Silk, Wool, Viscose, Cupro, Linen or Polyester. The final look of the garment will depend on the type of fabric you choose. Not suitable for jersey.

Cutting Fabric


On each pattern piece you will find a capital letter. On the cutting layout plan, you will find the same capital letters so that you can easily see which pattern pieces to use for the view you have chosen.

NOTE! The Pattern Has 1 Cm Seam Allowances Included Unless Otherwise Noted.

 

  1. Cut all your pieces in fabric and interfacing as needed.  

  2. Press the interfacing to the CF neck facing (K), neck facing (L) and neck-shoulder facing (S).

Note! to keep your neckline from stretching while working with your dress you can make stay stitching on pattern pieces A, N, p

Sew the front of the dress  

  3. Sew the dart on the side-front bodice (N), right sides together. Fold according to the notches and markings. Press the dart towards the CF.

4. Place the right side of a pocket bag (H) on the right side of the side-front skirt (Q), matching the notches. Stitch the pocket opening, approx. 15cm, between notches. See video

5. Clip notches at the start and the end of the stitches.  

6. Flip the pocket bag out and understitch the seam of the pocket opening – See video.  

7. Place another pocket bag on top and sew the pocket bags together along the outside edge.

 8. Finish the edge of the pocket bags with all layers together.

9. Sew the side-front bodice (N) together with the side-front skirt (Q) in the waist, right sides together. Sew the pocket into this seam.

10. Overlock:  

  • Waist-seam on the side-front piece.   Press seam upwards.

  • Side seam single layer, include the pocket bag edge.

11. Sew center front (A) together with side-front. Stop the seam 1 cm before the neck and backstitch.

12. Overlock:  

  • Side-front seam both layers together.   

  • Shoulder seams.  single layer.

Sew the back of the dress  

14. Sew the dart on the side-back bodice (O), right sides together. Fold according to the notches and markings.   

15. Press the dart towards the CB.  

  16. Sew the center back bodice (P) together with the side-back bodice (O), right sides together.

17. Overlock:  

  • Side-back bodice both layers together.

  • Shoulder seams

18. Press side-back seam towards side.  

19. Sew the back bodice together with the skirt (R) in the waist.   

20. Overlock:  

  • Waist-seam. Note! Turn the seam allowance down.  

  • Side seam   single layer

  • CB seam   single layer.

21. Sew Centre back seam, right sides together. Press seam open.

22. See a video on how to sew the zipper in the left side seam start 4 cm under the arm.  

23. Sew the rest of the side seam above and under the zipper.

Assemble   the dress

24. Sew the front and back piece together in the right-side seam, right sides together.  

25. Sew the shoulder seams, right sides together.

26. Press all seams open.  

27. Sew the back All-in-one neck facing (T) together at CB right sides together.

28. Sew the front and back all-in-one neck facing (S) & (T) together in the shoulder seam, right sides together.  

29. Sew the centre front neck facing (K) to the neck facing. Stop the seam 1 cm before the neck and backstitch and press all seams open.  

30. Sew the side seams of the facing, right sides together

31. Finish the long seam of the facing

33. Place the right side of the centre front neck facing onto the right side of the dress neckline. Sew the centre front neckline but stop at the side-front seam.  

34. Clip a notch at CF up to the stitching.

35. Understitch the CF seam.

36. Place the rest of the neck facing along the dress's neckline and sew it to the dress.  

37. Clip notches to the seam allowance of the neckline and understitches.

39. Sew together and clip notches to the seam allowance.

41. Understitch the seam allowance in the armscye, and sew as far you can go.
