Wardrobediary: 10 shoes - part 1

Leopard boots - the perfect basic boot

These boots are one of my latest purchases. They are bought used - which most of my shoes will be. I have a bit of an expensive taste when it comes to shoes, so when I find a pair I dream of, I like to wait a season or two, and then I find them either at outlets or as "new-used". It also forces me to consider it before I take the cash out. But they are, in many ways, my dream boot; a leopard print is to me what a black boot is to others. For the last 4 years, I have been looking for a pair with a thick heel, zipper at the back and leopard print. I have been in every corner of the internet, trust me. So when these 2 years ago showed up, they came on the wish list. This summer, a couple of new ones came up for sale at vestiaire collective, and I got them at a price I could accept.

Gold clogs - my first designer shoes

When I was younger, I always had a picture of a pair of dream shoes as my background on my computer. So these shoes were on my screen for a long time. They are from jimmy choo, and at that time, you could not get them in Denmark.

Christian, my husband today, was going to LA with his work, and when he got home, I got this pair. He did a great deal to find just this pair. Before leaving Denmark, he had taken a picture of my screen, and when he arrived, he went into a Jimmy Choo store to buy this pair. But it was a shoe from last season, and when the sweet lady in the store had called around to the various stores in LA, she came back with the message that they were sold out everywhere, but as a last try: she called a private friend who works in a store that sold shoes from different brands and there they had this one pair. So he went to the other end of town and got this pair of shoes for me. They mean a lot to me because I think it's a huge declaration of love from my husband.

 Shoes with wings

These shoes are some of the shoes that I do not really wear but that I love. When my daughter Molly was a little girl, at the age where everything has to go in the mouth, Illum's shoe department had just opened. Of course, I had to go in and see it. Molly was sitting in a stroller, and I, unfortunately, had put her a little too close to a shelf with some shoes. So while I was inattentive, she grabbed a pair of shoes with wings and chewed on them. Luckily nothing happened to the shoe, and the girl in the shoe department was lovely. But the shoe and the whole episode were so cute and funny that I could not get that shoe out of my head and therefore, this pair of shoes was bought, however, only several years later when I had enough money for them :)

Wedding shoes
My bridal shoes are the most extravagant shoe purchase I have ever made. It's not one I use today, but it was for me, the absolute top wedding shoes I could get. I was willing to drop my wedding ring for them. A little crazy, and today I am also happy that Christian said I should have a ring because I use the ring every day. These shoes have been on 2 times since. You live, and you learn, but I love them.

Party holiday shoes

Many years ago, my best friend invited me and two other girls on vacation to Budapest. Every trip I go on, I buy a souvenir to take home, and it is always a pair of shoes from a shoe designer from the country I travel to. That holiday was, in many ways, a turning point in our friendship - this was where we found each other as friends after many years where our biggest focus had been on children and creating our adult lives. Finding your friendships is magic, and that's what these shoes stand for.
